In Math through the use of a variety of manipulatives, a child will first learn numbers 0 to 10, both quantity and symbol. He will learn later what the quantity and symbol is for a unit, a ten, a hundred, and a thousand. The concrete manipulatives that the child works with allows him to self-discover the basic operations of arithmetic and when he is ready he will add, multiply, divide and subtract. The independence, satisfaction and joy of self-discovery will set the stage for the child's attitude toward mathematics in the future.
