Mathematics
In Math through the use of a variety of manipulatives, a child will first learn numbers
0 to 10, both quantity and symbol. He will learn later what the quantity and symbol is for a
unit, a ten, a hundred, and a thousand. The concrete manipulatives that the child works with
allows him to selfdiscover the basic operations of arithmetic and when he is ready he will add,
multiply, divide and subtract. The independence, satisfaction and joy of selfdiscovery will set
the stage for the child's attitude toward mathematics in the future.
