We are happy to say that the first phase of our re-opening has gone smoothly, and we are now preparing for phases two and three of our re-opening plan.
Phase two includes bringing back our Before and After School Care Program, which we are planning to reinstate for the upcoming school year – September 2020. There is still some uncertainty whether this program will be offered 5 days per week, or on a part-time basis as neither the Coquitlam or Langley School Districts have formally announced their plans for September. We will ultimately follow what both school districts decide, and adjust our programs in response. For example, if schools in Coquitlam are open full-time but the schools in Langley are only open part-time, we will offer the Before and After School Care Program 5 days per week at our Coquitlam location but only part-time at our Langley location. We will do our best to be as flexible as possible. We are closely monitoring news from the school districts and will provide updates once we have a clearer picture of what the new school year will look like.
Through the summer, the Province of British Columbia implemented Temporary Emergency Funding for Childcare Operations. This funding allowed us to re-open and maintain many of our programs with decreased enrollment. It also allowed us to keep spaces secured for those who were registered with us prior to our closure in March but did not attend our programs during the summer months after re-opening. We have received notice that the Temporary Emergency Funding will end August 31, 2020. As a result, we are asking all registered families that have children not currently attending our programs to please email us regarding their plans for care for September. Unfortunately, we will not be able to keep spaces secured for children as of September 1st, 2020, unless they are attending our programs. If we have not received any notice regarding a child’s position by August 31, 2020, we will assume that their position has been forfeited and it may be offered to other families seeking care. Emails should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and include the following information:
- Parent’s Name
- Child’s Name
- Campus (Langley or Coquitlam)
- Program (Infant Toddler, Full Day Program or Multi-Age Program)
- How many and which days per week they will be needing care for
Once again, we thank all of you for your continued support during this challenging time, and your efforts in staying healthy.
